I n 1990 seven inch vinyl wasn’t the primary format anymore. Although its official decline within Pet Shop Boys scope didn’t come until 1994 Yesterday, when I was mad—from that date the 7” vinyls rarely surfaced only as jukebox promos—it was already well-known what the customers were all about. CDs.

Low commercial success of Being boring was the second reason for this single to appear only in seven different 7” versions:

T he 7” UK release of Being boring was pretty much like every other 7” single from Pet Shop Boys. The first side filled with shortened, edited version of the song and the second with completely new title, one of the rare tracks featuring Chris Lowe on vocals—We all feel better in the dark.

The vinyl was issued in two versions, one white- and one silver-labeled. The mix of Being boring is unlabeled on both the cover and the record itself.

T he 7” German vinyl was released throughout Western Europe concurrently to UK version. Apart from the usual design modifications, such as different catalogue numbers and copyrights, German version presented a completely different front picture of Neil and Chris on the front cover.

The vinyl is black-labeled. The sleeve is of much more thinner paper than the UK release. Both Being boring and We all feel better in the dark are mislabeled “extended mixes” on the back cover (this is reported to be the case only for some of the singles).

I talian 7” vinyl looks basically like the UK issue, with the exception of slightly more matte paper and noticeably more pale picture on the front sleeve. Another difference is additional line of EMI Italy credits on the back. The one copy presented has “Campione Gratuito” cut in the lower left corner, meaning it’s a free, promotional copy.

The vinyl label has slightly unusual colors, most notably title printed in light cyan.

We all feel better in the dark is missing, the 7” mix of the song is repeated both sides instead.
